Paweł Herczyński, the EU ambassador to Georgia, on Monday was summoned for a meeting with Maka Botchorishvili, the minister of foreign affairs of Georgia, regarding an event organised by the European External Action Service in Brussels and the statements made within its framework.
During the meeting, the minister emphasised that Brussels’ current policy toward Georgia, including the steps taken and statements made in relation to the country, undermines trust between the parties and damages the Georgia-EU partnership.
According to the minister, “Brussels’ actions can unfortunately only be assessed as steps toward the further polarisation of Georgian society and the encouragement of a radical agenda”.
The minister noted that the Georgian government consistently expresses its readiness for constructive dialogue and expects a fair attitude from the European Union based on mutual respect.
