Liberty to Implement the New International Nasdaq Calypso Platform
Five leading Georgian commercial banks — Liberty, Basisbank, Bank of Georgia, TBC Bank and Terabank — will transform their treasury infraspting a unified, internationally recognised platform, Nasdaq Calypso.
Nasdaq announced the development to the public through a banner displayed in New York's Times Square.
The shared Nasdaq Calypso platform is being implemented with the support of the National Bank of Georgia and under the auspices of the Georgian Financial Markets Treasuries Association (GFMTA). The project is being carried out within the framework of the Georgian Financial Markets Development Programme (GMAP) and aims to establish a modern, reliable treasury infrastructure for the banking sector that meets international standards.
"Transitioning to the Nasdaq Calypso platform is an important step for Liberty and will further strengthen the efficiency of our treasury operations and our risk management capabilities. Over the past five years, Liberty has established itself as a significant participant in Georgia's treasury market and has consistently strengthened its role and position. The implementation of internationally recognized technological infrastructure is fully aligned with Liberty's strategy of continuously developing modern banking services for our customers and partners. We believe that this initiative will make an important contribution to the development of both Liberty and Georgia's financial market as a whole," said Vakhtang Babunashvili, Chief Financial Officer of Liberty.
The partnership with Nasdaq represents another important step for Georgia's banking sector and will contribute to closer integration with the international financial system and to the development of the country's capital market.
