Lotus Aims to Support Microbank Crystal’s Independent and Long-Term Development
The National Bank of Georgia (NBG) has confirmed the suitability of JSC Lotus Impact Finance and shareholders acting in concert with it in connection with the acquisition of a significant shareholding in Microbank Crystal.
By bringing together the interests of Crystal's founding shareholders and the support of new, like-minded investors, Lotus is evolving into an investment, corporate governance and technology platform dedicated to supporting Crystal's independent development and long-term success.
"Crystal's story began in Kutaisi, when a group of young people displaced from Abkhazia set out to create new opportunities for small entrepreneurs and families. From this initiative grew a financial institution that today serves tens of thousands of customers.
Today, we are bringing together experience, capital and new capabilities to ensure that Crystal preserves its unique mission and enters a new stage of development.
We believe Georgia needs strong, independent financial institutions and healthy competition, offering customers greater choice and better financial services," said Archil Bakuradze, Director of Lotus Impact Finance.
Lotus's strategic priorities include supporting entrepreneurship across Georgia's regions, advancing agricultural development, promoting technological innovation and pursuing opportunities for expansion into regional markets over the longer term.
Lotus places particular value on the professionalism of Crystal's employees, the trust of its customers, and the significant contribution of international institutional investors and lenders to Crystal's development. The platform considers maintaining and deepening these partnerships an integral part of its long-term vision.
