ADB raises Georgia’s 2026 economic growth forecast to 6.3%
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) raised its forecast for Georgia’s economic growth in 2026 from 5.5% to 6.3%, citing stronger-than-expected economic activity in the first half of the year.
According to the ADB, economic growth exceeded expectations, driven by strong performance in the services sector, consumption and exports.
“Georgia’s economic growth exceeded expectations, supported by strong growth in the services sector, consumption and exports. Given that economic activity was higher than expected and regional spillovers remain limited, the 2026 growth forecast has been raised from 5.5% to 6.3%, while the 2027 forecast remains unchanged at 5.2%”, the report said.

Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili met Chairman of BAIC International (Beijing Automotive International Development Co., Ltd.), Fu Jun at the company’s head office.
According to the Ministry of Economy, the Minister presented a study, commissioned by the Georgian Economic Development Corporation, on the feasibility of establishing an electric vehicle manufacturing plant in the country, and highlighted prospects for cooperation with BAIC International.
The meeting focused on the potential for exporting electric vehicles, including to European markets within the Free Trade Agreement.
The parties agreed that the Chinese Company would send a working group to Georgia. BAIC International representatives focused on the company’s development strategy and expansion of its geographic area.
Deputy Economy Ministers Irakli Nadareishvili, Tamar Ioseliani and Gennady Arveladze attended the meeting.
