Average monthly salary in Georgia reaches 2,389 GEL after 8% increase in Q2 2026
In the second quarter of 2026, the average monthly nominal salary in Georgia increased by 8.0 per cent, or 177.3 GEL, compared to the same period last year, reaching 2,389.3 GEL according to the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GeoStat).
By sector, relatively high average salaries were recorded in the following areas: Information and Communication at 4,400.4 GEL (up 5.4 per cent year-on-year); Financial and Insurance Activities at 4,074.1 GEL (up 9.2 per cent); Construction at 3,496.6 GEL (up 0.8 per cent); and Professional, Scientific, and Technical Activities at 3,304.8 GEL (up 10.3 per cent).
According to GeoStat, the average monthly earnings for women in the second quarter of 2026 stood at 1,927.0 GEL, while men earned an average of 2,856.4 GEL. Annual wage growth reached 157.5 GEL (8.9 per cent) for women and 200.5 GEL (7.6 per cent) for men. Across all sector categories, men’s salaries exceeded those of women.
Furthermore, the report shows that the average monthly salary for business sector employees rose by 153.8 GEL (6.6 per cent) to 2,471.5 GEL. By industry sector, the highest wages were observed in Information and Communication (4,463.9 GEL) and Professional, Scientific, and Technical Activities (3,693.0 GEL).
During the reporting period, the average monthly salary in the non-business and financial sectors increased by 215.0 GEL (10.6 per cent) year-on-year, totalling 2,239.0 GEL. By sector, employees in Financial and Insurance Activities commanded the highest salaries. Regionally, Tbilisi and Mtskheta-Mtianeti led in terms of average wage levels.

According to preliminary data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GeoStat), nominal Gross Domestic Product (GDP) reached GEL 28,147.0 million in the second quarter of 2026, marking a real GDP growth rate of 6.9 per cent year-on-year.
The percentage change in the GDP deflator stood at 3.0 per cent for Q2 2026.
GeoStat reported that key positive drivers of economic expansion during the second quarter included information and communication (16.6 per cent), wholesale and retail trade alongside motor vehicle and motorcycle repair (8.0 per cent), transportation and storage (19.8 per cent), arts, entertainment and recreation (17.4 per cent), manufacturing (7.3 per cent), and human health and social work activities (15.0 per cent).
Conversely, notable contractions were recorded in construction (-4.8 per cent) and agriculture, forestry, and fishing (-3.5 per cent).
According to the agency’s report, wholesale and retail trade alongside motor vehicle and motorcycle repair accounted for the largest share of GDP by economic sector at 14.9 per cent, followed by real estate activities at 9.1 per cent. Subsequent shares were held by manufacturing (8.9 per cent), information and communication (7.6 per cent), public administration and defence including compulsory social security (6.5 per cent), construction (6.5 per cent), agriculture, forestry, and fishing (6.4 per cent), education (6.4 per cent), and transportation and storage (6.3 per cent).
