Galt & Taggart, an investment banking arm of Lion Finance Group, forecasts that foreign direct investment (FDI) in Georgia will increase by 8% in 2026, reaching approximately $1.8 billion by the end of the year.

According to the investment bank’s assessment, the expected growth is based on positive dynamics recorded in the first quarter of 2026.

Preliminary data from Georgia’s National Statistics Office show that FDI during this period increased by 47.7% year-on-year, reaching $271.2 million. The growth was mainly driven by an increase in equity capital.

In the first quarter of 2026, the largest share of investments was directed to the financial sector, followed by real estate, information and communication, energy and trade sectors. The largest investor countries included the United Kingdom, the United States, the Netherlands and Azerbaijan.

According to Galt & Taggart’s forecast, the continued growth of investment this year will be supported by both capital inflows and a high level of economic activity.
