“The development of our capital calls for bold steps and a grand vision: the creation of new economic and urban centres of gravity built around people’s interests and comfort. Today we are laying the foundation for the next stage of exactly such a project, Archi Grand Avenue, as construction begins on a five-star Hilton hotel and Wyndham residences, two world-renowned brands,” Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said in his address at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Hilton hotel and Wyndham residences.

The head of government noted that the investment is truly impressive: two billion lari.

“This is a clear statement that our country’s economy is developing steadily and that peaceful development is guaranteed. Under such conditions, ambitious investment projects are, of course, possible. This project also confirms business confidence in the economic environment and business climate that have taken shape in our country. It shows that large, long-term capital investment in Georgia is both secure and promising.

The five-star hotel and modern residences will stand on 21 hectares as part of a new district. It is worth highlighting separately that 75 per cent of this area, three-quarters of it, will be given over to parks, green spaces and recreation, which lends this large-scale project a special charm,” Irakli Kobakhidze said.

According to him, Archi Grand Avenue provides everything needed for a dignified life.

“A school, a kindergarten, and sports, wellness, cultural and entertainment facilities will be built here. Its multifunctional design is key to developing a space of this kind. The transport tunnel deserves special mention: it will connect this area directly to Tsereteli Avenue, significantly easing traffic on the surrounding streets. Most importantly, the project will create thousands of new jobs, strengthen the economy, and our capital will move into yet another important and truly exciting stage of its development. Projects like this are building a modern Tbilisi, one that preserves its distinctive character while growing with a vision for the future.

I would like to thank the Archi Group founder, Ilia Tsulaia, who stands out for such large-scale projects and such an ambitious vision, and I wish him every success. Congratulations to all of you on this day. To the investors, architects and builders, I wish you every success in bringing this project to life,” Irakli Kobakhidze said.

09.10.2026.19:13

“A year ago, one of Georgian Railway’s major challenges was its ageing rolling stock. As a result of changes in the company’s management approach, operational processes have improved, costs have been cut, and the resources saved have been put towards the company’s development,” the Director General of Georgian Railway said at an event marking Railway Workers’ Day.

According to Lasha Abashidze, the company has already purchased 200 new freight wagons, around 50 of which are already in Georgia, and there are plans to double this figure by the end of the year. Lasha Abashidze said that the process of purchasing up to 50 new locomotives for the railway is already underway.

“This is a truly historic process, because one of our fundamental challenges is our ageing locomotive fleet,” the Director General of Georgian Railway said.
