Georgian Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili has met with Antonella Bassani, World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia, on the sidelines of the IMF and World Bank Group Annual Meetings in Bangkok.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the talks focused on current and upcoming WB-supported projects and the future strategic partnership framework.

Discussions focused on World Bank funding to enhance regional connectivity and upgrade Georgia’s transport infrastructure, including targeted investment for the Anaklia Deep Sea Port and associated facilities.

Both sides highlighted the importance of the “Resilient Middle Corridor Program: Georgia Access and Transport Connectivity Project”, signed in June, which aims to boost efficiency along the Middle Corridor trade route.

Minister Khutsishvili thanked the World Bank Vice President for the institution’s ongoing contribution to Georgia’s economic development and voiced optimism for continued close collaboration.

Deputy Minister of Finance Ekaterine Guntsadze also attended the meeting.

The 2026 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group are taking place in Bangkok, Thailand, from 12 to 18 October.
