Georgian Deputy Economy Minister Vakhtang Tsintsadze said on Thursday that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) had raised its economic growth forecast for Georgia twice this year, attributing the revisions to the Georgian Government’s sound and consistent economic policies.

“According to the International Monetary Fund’s October World Economic Outlook, Georgia’s economic growth forecast for 2026 stands at 7.2%. This represents an upward revision of 0.7 percentage points compared to the previous forecast in June and an increase of 1.9 percentage points compared to the April forecast”, Tsintsadze said.

He noted that Georgia was projected to record one of the highest economic growth rates globally in 2026, outperforming EU candidate countries, EU member states and neighbouring countries. He added that Georgia’s projected growth rate was 2.8 times higher than the average for EU candidate countries.

“Overall, the medium-term economic growth forecast for Georgia stands at 5.5%, marking an improvement over the previous projection”, he continued.

Tsintsadze also highlighted forecasts for the 2026–2031 period, which he said indicated that Georgia would maintain its leading position among EU candidate countries in terms of economic growth.

“Furthermore, Georgia’s economic growth between 2021 and 2026 was among the highest globally, with the country ranking fourth in terms of growth over this period. These figures reaffirm that the Georgian Government’s policies, focused on implementing structural reforms and accelerating major infrastructure projects, enable us to sustain high rates of economic growth. Ultimately, this is reflected in assessments by numerous international financial institutions and credit rating agencies and, most importantly, in rising incomes among our population”, he concluded.
