“Our main task is to use the existing momentum to eliminate restrictions along the corridor, make better use of its capacity, and ensure that the Middle Corridor operates as a unified and integrated transport system,” Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Tamar Ioseliani said in an address to the Ministerial Forum held in China as part of the Global Sustainable Transport Forum.

According to Ioseliani, alongside developing infrastructure, Georgia places particular emphasis on the efficient operation of its transport system, digital transformation and the simplification of border procedures.

In this regard, Georgia is developing a Maritime Single Window system, digitizing transport documents and working to improve data exchange across borders.

“We already have concrete results in this regard — transit times and the duration of procedures are decreasing, the efficiency of the transport system is improving, and access to markets is expanding. Our goal is to ensure that this progress continues through ongoing investments in infrastructure and further deepening international cooperation, producing even more tangible results for both Georgia and the region as a whole,” the Deputy Minister said.

Ioseliani also emphasized that establishing coordination mechanisms at both ministerial and working levels within the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor would bring cooperation to a new stage and contribute to closer and more effective coordination among the countries participating in the corridor.
