Georgian Economy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili on Friday said the Government, together with its partners, expected to announce a construction tender for the railway access route to the Anaklia Deep-Sea Port next month, by the end of October.

Speaking to Imedi TV, Kvrivishvili noted that the intensive construction works currently underway in Anaklia were progressing fully in line with the Government’s schedule.

“Alongside the construction of the port’s core infrastructure, it is critically important for the state to ensure the timely announcement of tenders for the access road and railway. Today, for the first time, we can publicly confirm that negotiations with our international partners, namely financial institutions, have been completed. At the same time, Georgian Railway has finalised the design of the railway access route to the Anaklia port”, she said.

The Minister added that launching the tender would mark a significant step forward in advancing the development of the Anaklia Deep-Sea Port into its next phase.

Kvrivishvili further said the move demonstrated the Government’s systematic approach to the development of strategic infrastructure.

“We have a clear plan and a defined timeline, which all relevant agencies, including the Ministry of Economy, are following meticulously. Our primary objective is for the Anaklia Deep-Sea Port to receive its first vessel in 2029, and we will do everything necessary to achieve this goal”, Kvrivishvili concluded.
