Georgia’s annual inflation rate reached 5.6% in September 2026, while consumer prices rose by 0.4% month-on-month.

According to the latest figures released by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GeoStat), annual core inflation, which excludes volatile items, stood at 3.7% compared to the same period last year. Annual core inflation excluding tobacco was recorded at 3.5%.

According to GeoStat’s report, shifts in transport, healthcare, and education primarily drove month-on-month price movements. Transport prices rose by 2.9% month-on-month, adding 0.36 percentage points to the monthly index, driven by higher costs for personal transport operation (up 4.2%), vehicle purchases (up 0.4%), and transport services (up 0.4%). Healthcare costs climbed by 2.8%, contributing 0.22 percentage points to headline monthly inflation, largely driven by a 9.1% surge in outpatient medical services.

Conversely, overall education costs fell by 12.2% month-on-month, subtracting 0.51 percentage points from the monthly index due to a sharp 32.9% drop in tertiary education fees, despite price increases across secondary education (up 7.0%), pre-school and primary education (up 5.8%), and non-formal education (up 4.6%).
