Visit to China reveals surging interest in investing in Georgia - Economy Minister
“During our visit to China, we participated in the Global Sustainable Transport Forum, where we delivered an address comprehensively covering the significance of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port, as well as the modernisation of Georgian Railways,” stated Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili.
The Economy Minister summarised the outcomes of the Georgian delegation’s visit to the People’s Republic of China. She noted that discussions at the forum centred on the Georgian Government’s overall vision and strategic roadmap for expanding the transport and logistics sector.
“During the visit, we held highly productive meetings with our counterparts-the Minister of Transport, the Vice Minister of Commerce, and major local corporations and companies operating across transport, shipping, port operations, and energy. Throughout the trip, we observed a substantial rise in interest in Chinese investment in Georgia, with the energy, transport, and logistics sectors standing out as particular priorities,” the Economy Minister noted.

Deputy Ministers of Economy and Sustainable Development Irakli Nadareishvili and Genadi Arveladze held a meeting with representatives of JD.com, one of China’s largest e-commerce and supply chain technology companies, the Ministry of Economy reports.
According to the Ministry, the meeting was held as part of Georgian Economy and Sustainable Development Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili’s visit to the People’s Republic of China.
“The parties discussed opportunities for cooperation, including the possibility of Georgian producers placing their products in various premium listings on JD.com’s e-commerce platform.
The parties agreed to sign a memorandum of cooperation and develop an action plan to promote and facilitate the sale of Georgian products on the platform.
JD.com’s main areas of activity include e-commerce, logistics and supply chain services, industrial services, and others.
The meeting was also attended by Georgian Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China Paata Kalandadze,” the Ministry of Economy said.
