The Minister of Education, Science, and Youth, Givi Mikanadze, has held a working meeting with Isabella Castrogiovanni, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Representative to Georgia.

Givi Mikanadze thanked the UNICEF representative for supporting Georgia’s education system, noting that numerous large-scale joint projects have been successfully implemented within the framework of their long-standing cooperation.

According to the Minister, the primary objectives of the ongoing general education reform in Georgia are fully aligned with UNICEF’s new Country Programme Document (2026–2030) and the 2026 joint work plan signed between the Ministry and the UN Children’s Fund.

The Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth reported that during the meeting, particular emphasis was placed on developing the early childhood care and education system, expanding access to inclusive educational services, and strengthening youth policy.

The next registration phase for children entering their first year of public school for the 2026–2027 academic year will begin on July 20 and run until July 31 inclusive.

According to the Ministry of Education of Georgia, during this phase, first-year registration will be open for remaining vacancies in public schools, as well as places that have become available following the completion of previous stages.

“Information regarding vacant places, school shifts, and language sectors in public schools is available on the online portal of the Education Management Information System. To register, a parent or legal guardian must submit an application to their preferred public school, along with copies of their identity document and the child’s birth certificate. The relevant public school will process the pupil’s registration based on the submitted documentation,” the announcement stated.
