news image

The Parliament of Georgia considered the draft law “On Amendments to the Law of Georgia on Higher Education” in the third reading, in an expedited manner, and approved it with 77 votes.

Under the legislative amendment, students enrolled before December 17, 2025, will retain the funding they have already received during the transition period, including the 2029-2030 academic year, and will also be allowed to access and increase their funding.

The amendment, adopted by Parliament, fully guarantees students’ participation in state grant competitions and the utilisation of social programmes.

The legislative initiative was put forward by the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, with the support of the Government of Georgia.
