The relations between Armenia and Georgia are strategic, long-term, historical, and fraternal, and they will remain so, said on Friday Armenian prime minister Nikol Pashinyan during a press conference with Armenian journalists.

In his remarks, Pashinyan noted that the bilateral ties between Yerevan and Tbilisi are completely independent of external factors and foreign dynamics.

“Armenia-Georgia relations have nothing to do with relations with third parties. The relationship between Armenia and Georgia is of a strategic, long-term, historical, and fraternal nature, and it will remain as such. There can be no other scenario”, Pashinyan explained.

The prime minister further reiterated that Georgia plays a pivotal role in Armenia’s integration and relations with the European Union. However, he also expressed concern regarding the current state of affairs between Tbilisi and Brussels.

“Regarding Georgia, I have previously stated clearly that Georgia plays an important and key role in Armenia-EU relations. We are concerned about the current situation [between Georgia and the EU]. We believe that this situation should be resolved”, Pashinyan concluded.
