First Deputy Head of Georgian State Security Service presents country’s counter-terrorism achievements at UN General Assembly
Lasha Maghradze, the First Deputy Head of Georgia’s State Security Service, on Wednesday delivered a closing report at the UN General Assembly’s Counter-Terrorism Week in New York, highlighting the importance of unified international approaches against terrorism and showcasing Georgia’s success in preventing terrorist acts on its territory for 15 years.
Maghradze stressed that in the face of ongoing terrorist threats, developing unified approaches and strengthening coordination among UN member states is essential for protecting global peace and security.
He drew particular attention to the growing risk of terrorist organisations exploiting new technologies, especially artificial intelligence, and called for enhanced international measures to minimise these dangers.
The First Deputy Head presented Georgia’s record, noting that effective work by relevant agencies has ensured no terrorist acts have been carried out on Georgian soil in the past 15 years.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Friday signed a Strategic Partnership Agreement, formally elevating bilateral relations to the level of a strategic partnership.
Following the expanded-format talks between the two countries' Government delegations, the relevant agencies of Georgia and Uzbekistan also signed a series of memorandums of cooperation covering the fields of economy, healthcare, environmental protection and agriculture, finance, customs, education, information and communication technologies, and culture.
