Georgia, Azerbaijan discuss deepening strategic and interparliamentary cooperation
Strategic partnership between Georgia and Azerbaijan, including interparliamentary cooperation, was discussed on Monday in a meeting between Georgian Parliament Vice Speaker Nino Tsilosani and Azerbaijani Parliament Speaker Sahiba Gafarova.
The officials reviewed ways to further deepen the strategic partnership between the two countries, with a particular focus on strengthening parliamentary ties.
Tsilosani underscored the importance of parliamentary diplomacy, noting that regular high-level contacts between the Parliament of Georgia and the Parliament of Azerbaijan constitute an important component of bilateral relations.
Particular attention was paid to enhancing cooperation within parliamentary friendship groups, relevant committees and international parliamentary formats.
The sides also discussed regional developments and highlighted the importance of cooperation in promoting peace, stability and economic development in the South Caucasus.
Tsilosani thanked Gafarova for the active cooperation between the legislative bodies of Georgia and Azerbaijan.

Georgia’s Minister of Finance, Lasha Khutsishvili, met with Zou Jiayi, the President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), on the sidelines of the institution’s 11th Annual Meeting. Zou Jiayi assumed the presidency for a five-year term in January this year.
According to the Ministry of Finance, the Georgian delegation also included Deputy Minister of Finance Ekaterine Guntsadze.

Discussions focused on major international infrastructure projects underway in Georgia and their strategic significance both nationally and across the wider region. The talks also covered expanding cooperation in capital market development.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to continued collaboration to support Georgia’s long-term sustainable growth. The Finance Minister extended an official invitation for President Zou to visit Georgia.
