Georgia-Uzbekistan strategic partnership will boost regional trade, transport connectivity - Georgian PM
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Friday said that the joint declaration on strategic partnership with Uzbekistan would elevate bilateral relations to a new level, strengthening cooperation in multiple fields and contributing to increased regional trade flows, transport corridors, and broader economic integration.
Speaking during expanded-format talks with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Kobakhidze described Uzbekistan as both a reliable partner and a close friend of Georgia.
“Georgia highly values partnership with Uzbekistan, which we consider not only a reliable and important partner, but also a friend. Our bilateral relations have been steadily developing over the years, and the joint declaration on strategic partnership will take our relations to a new level”, Kobakhidze said.
The Prime Minister thanked the Uzbek President for his support of Georgia and noted that the signing of the strategic partnership declaration reflects the strong friendship between the two countries.
“Thank you for your strong support of Georgia. The signing of the agreement on strategic partnership is the result of your personal support. The joint declaration is proof of the friendship existing between our countries and creates a solid foundation for the sustainable development of bilateral relations and cooperation in political, trade, economic, investment, scientific, technical, cultural, humanitarian, and other directions. Strengthening our cooperation will further increase regional trade flows, contribute to the strengthening of transport corridors, and promote broad economic integration”, he noted.
He also expressed gratitude to Uzbekistan for its continued support for Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“We sincerely thank you for your support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity”, Kobakhidze stressed.
The Head of the government praised the reforms and progress achieved by Uzbekistan under Mirziyoyev's leadership, highlighting the country's institutional development and long-term vision.
“It is very impressive the progress and achievements that Uzbekistan has made under your leadership. You have strong institutions, a state system, and a clear vision for the country’s development direction”, he said.
“You are an exemplary leader, and we are confident that under your leadership, the existing bilateral cooperation and friendship between our countries will further strengthen”, Kobakhidze concluded.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Friday signed a Strategic Partnership Agreement, formally elevating bilateral relations to the level of a strategic partnership.
Following the expanded-format talks between the two countries' Government delegations, the relevant agencies of Georgia and Uzbekistan also signed a series of memorandums of cooperation covering the fields of economy, healthcare, environmental protection and agriculture, finance, customs, education, information and communication technologies, and culture.
