Georgian, Canadian FMs review Black Sea security, prospects for strengthening trade and economic ties
Key areas of bilateral relations between Georgia and Canada, as well as cooperation in multilateral formats, were discussed on Tuesday in a meeting between Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili and her Canadian counterpart, Anita Anand.
The ministers reviewed the importance of maintaining political dialogue between the two countries and outlined future plans for cooperation.
Particular emphasis was placed on security in the Black Sea region and the broader regional situation.
The discussion also focused on prospects for strengthening trade and economic ties, taking into account Georgia’s role in the Middle Corridor and Canada’s trade diversification policy.
Botchorishvili thanked the Canadian side for its steadfast support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Central Election Commission (CEC) is finalising preparations for the 3 October by-elections, confirming that technical diagnostics and final software calibration for its electronic voting hardware are now complete at its operational logistics hub.
According to the CEC, technical preparations involved testing and configuring eight electronic voting and vote-counting machines, nine voter verification devices, and seven tablets. Three of the tablets are designated for polling stations where voting will be conducted using traditional paper-based methods.
“The CEC logistics team has dispatched the electronic voting technology to district election commissions in accordance with the pre-approved schedule. The district bodies will transfer the equipment to relevant precinct election commissions on the eve of polling day. A total of seven polling stations will open for the 3 October by-elections, four of which will utilise electronic voter verification and automated vote-tallying technology,” the statement read.
