image China eyes greater participation in Georgia’s infrastructure projects, including Anaklia Port

06.07.2026.19:29

Zhou Qian, the Chinese Ambassador to Georgia, on Monday welcomed the Georgian Government’s decisions regarding the Anaklia Deep Sea Port project and expressed hope that Chinese companies would actively participate in infrastructure projects and contribute to the country's economic development.

Speaking about the possible involvement of Chinese companies in the construction of the Anaklia port, the Ambassador noted that Chinese President Xi Jinping and Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili exchanged congratulatory messages earlier this year, reaffirming the importance of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

“We believe our countries will achieve even greater success in the future. In addition to the high level of political trust, Georgia and China are actively cooperating in tourism, education, trade, the economy and other important areas”, Zhou Qian said.

“We welcome the decisions made by the Georgian authorities and respect the country's choice. We hope that, in the future, Chinese companies will also actively participate in projects underway in Georgia and contribute to the country's economic development”, he concluded.
