Georgian, Luxembourg Parliament Speakers discuss bilateral ties, Georgia-EU relations
Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Thursday met with Claude Wiseler, President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, to discuss bilateral parliamentary cooperation, Georgia-EU relations and the importance of restoring dialogue during Papuashvili’s official visit to Luxembourg.
Papuashvili thanked his Luxembourg counterpart for supporting Georgia’s territorial integrity.
The sides noted that cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries was developing dynamically and recalled their productive meeting in Istanbul in April 2026 on the sidelines of the General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
The importance of Papuashvili’s official bilateral visit was also highlighted.
The discussions focused on various areas of bilateral cooperation, including the development of business ties and cooperation in tourism.
The meeting also addressed Georgia-EU relations. It was noted that Georgia was successfully fulfilling its obligations under the Association Agreement, while the importance of restoring dialogue was emphasised.
The sides further discussed the ongoing war in Ukraine and prospects for peace and development in the Caucasus region.

CEC prints ballots for October 3 municipal council by-elections

Ballots for the October 3 by-elections to municipal representative bodies, known as Sakrebulos, have been printed, the Central Election Commission (CEC) reports.
The ballots intended for precinct election commissions in Vani, Akhmeta, Dmanisi and Tsalka were printed in Tbilisi at Favorit Stili LLC.
“A total of 2,450 ballots were printed, of which 1,750 are intended for polling stations where voting will be conducted using electronic technologies, while 700 ballots are intended for polling stations where voting will be conducted using the traditional method.
“CEC spokesperson Natia Ioseliani inspected the ballot printing process on site. According to her, the ballots were printed in full compliance with the relevant standards.
“The ballot printing process at the printing house was monitored by the CEC’s Finance Department, while the Election Process Management Department’s Election Technology Support Team checked the ballots’ compatibility with electronic vote-counting machines.
“The CEC will deliver the ballots to the respective district election commissions within the deadlines established by law,” the CEC said.
