Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has received an official invitation from French President Emmanuel Macron to attend the first International Space Summit, scheduled to take place in Paris on September 9-10.

According to the invitation, the summit will be co-chaired by France and Germany and will focus on key issues related to science, research, security, and defense in the space sector.

“Mr. Prime Minister, Dear Irakli, I have the honor of inviting you to the first International Space Summit, which will be held in Paris on September 9–10. Today, more than ever, space represents a key driver of power and prosperity. The dynamism of industrial stakeholders, the growing dual-use civil and military applications of space technologies, and intensifying global competition call for coordinated action to fully unlock their technological potential and accelerate the sustainable and responsible development of the space economy”, the letter said.
Macron noted that the summit would provide an opportunity to emphasize the importance of dialogue and cooperation not only among states but also between companies and multilateral stakeholders. He said participants would discuss ways to ensure the long-term sustainability of space activities for the benefit of future generations.

The French President also underlined the importance of showcasing the expertise of national space industries and agencies, as well as strengthening cooperation at scientific, industrial, technical, and economic levels. He expressed France’s interest in working closely with Georgia and other invited countries to shape the format of the summit and ensure it concludes with concrete commitments and practical outcomes.

“Our objective is to make this meeting a unique opportunity to reaffirm the importance of addressing space-related challenges and to support the multilateral cooperation in space that is needed today more than ever”, Macron wrote, expressing hope for Georgia’s participation and stating that he would be pleased to welcome Prime Minister Kobakhidze to Paris in September 2026.
