The government of Georgia is launching a new electronic platform designed to help consumers compare prices and identify the best offers on essential goods, according to the Head of the Government Administration, Levan Jorjoliani.

The initiative, introduced under the guidance of the Prime Minister and with the involvement of a parliamentary commission, is being developed by the Competition and Consumer Agency.

Jorjoliani said the platform will provide maximum transparency for consumers by showing which retail chains offer the best prices on specific products. He added that the system is also expected to strengthen competition between retail networks.

Under the scheme, retail chains will be required to submit updated pricing information on a weekly basis. This data will then be published on the electronic platform, allowing consumers to make more informed purchasing decisions.

The project is part of a broader “family basket” initiative, which focuses on basic food and household products and aims to centralize information on prices across different retail networks.
