Georgian PM, Tajik President discuss cooperation, importance of enhancing connectivity
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Friday held a meeting with the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, during which the sides discussed bilateral cooperation and prospects for strengthening relations between the two countries.
During the expanded-format talks, Kobakhidze thanked Rahmon for the hospitality extended to the Georgian delegation and expressed confidence that the first high-level visit between the countries would help advance bilateral relations to a new stage.
The discussions centred on opportunities to deepen trade and economic cooperation, with particular attention given to strengthening partnerships in the transport and logistics sectors.
The sides noted the importance of enhancing connectivity and expanding economic ties between Georgia and Tajikistan.
The meeting also addressed cooperation in culture, humanitarian affairs, and tourism. As the parties noted, closer collaboration in these fields could contribute to stronger people-to-people contacts and broader mutual understanding between the two nations.
Regional developments and issues of international importance were also reviewed during the talks.
Following the meeting, Kobakhidze and Rahmon adopted a joint communiqué outlining their commitment to the further development and strengthening of bilateral relations.

Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maka Botchorishvili met her colleague, the Foreign Minister of Tajikistan, Sirojiddin Muhriddin, during the visit to the Republic of Tajikistan.
According to the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), the colleagues reviewed bilateral cooperation issues as well as matters within international organisations, emphasizing the significance of the first high-level and official visit from Georgia, which serves as a basis for deepening the partnership between the two countries.
“The significance of maintaining the highest and high-level dialogue between Georgia and Tajikistan was noted, accentuating the development of the Middle Corridor and strengthening efforts towards regional cooperation,” the MFA said.
