Head of Government Administration meets Ambassador of Belarus

Levan Zhorzholiani, Head of Government Administration of Georgia, met Nikolai Rogashchuk, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus.

According to the Georgian Government, the meeting focused on the dynamics of relations between the two countries across various areas as well as future cooperation.

The parties discussed trade and economic ties between Georgia and Belarus, as well as opportunities for further deepening cooperation. It was noted that economic relations are developing at a growing pace, as reflected in trade volumes between the two countries during the first six months of 2026. The prospects for increasing exports of Georgian products to Belarus were also elaborated.

The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Davit Songhulashvili, has presented the new Head of the Environmental Supervision Department, Paata Kiladze, to the staff.

The Minister congratulated Paata Kiladze on his appointment to the new role and wished him success in his future endeavours. Davit Songhulashvili highlighted the vital importance of state environmental oversight, as well as the planned measures and reforms in this domain.

“Paata possesses extensive experience in the public sector. Over the years, he has successfully carried out his duties across various state agencies. I am confident that his joining will further strengthen our team,” declared Davit Songhulashvili.

The Minister expressed special gratitude to the former Head of the Environmental Supervision Department, Levan Jgharkava, for his service. He stated that the change within the agency is part of a routine rotation, with Levan Jgharkava continuing his work within the ministry’s structure, thereby contributing to the overall strengthening of the system.

Paata Kiladze is an economist and lawyer by profession, with many years of experience in the public sector. He has previously held executive roles in the Ministry of Finance of Georgia and various tax authorities. From 2021 to date, he served as the First Deputy Head of the Revenue Service (LEPL).

Paata Kiladze thanked the Minister for the trust placed in him. He noted that the work of the Environmental Supervision Department is of paramount importance to the nation and expressed his readiness to use his experience and capabilities to support the efficient fulfilment of the agency’s objectives.

The Environmental Supervision Department, a state subordinate agency under the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, provides state oversight in environmental protection and the utilisation of natural resources across the entire territory of Georgia, including its territorial waters, continental shelf, and exclusive economic zone.
