Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said Kazakhstan and Georgia will sign a joint declaration elevating bilateral relations to the level of a strategic partnership.

Speaking at an expanded-format meeting with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, Tokayev described the move as a “historic decision.”

“Mr Irakli Kobakhidze, you are widely known and deeply respected as our good friend, a visionary leader, and a dedicated statesman with a broad international vision. Thanks to your strong leadership, Georgia has been successfully implementing far-reaching socioeconomic reforms, improving the well-being of its citizens while steadily enhancing its international standing and reinforcing its role as a key regional partner.

It is truly inspiring to watch your nation’s remarkable journey, and I am confident that Georgia will continue to move forward along the path of sustainable development, achieving new heights as a strong and prosperous nation. Our countries share deep historical roots, common cultural values, and centuries-old bonds of friendship and mutual understanding.

The Kazakh people hold the Georgian people in high esteem, deeply respecting their rich history and unique culture. The Georgian community is an integral part of our multi-ethnic society and serves as a living bridge between our countries. In recent years, bilateral relations have gained new momentum.

Political dialogue has intensified. Mutual trade has been steadily growing, and economic cooperation continues to expand across a wide range of sectors.

Kazakhstan and Georgia interact effectively on the global stage, consistently supporting each other on key international issues. Today, we had a very productive discussion, reaching key agreements aimed at the further strengthening of our bilateral relations. We emphasized the development of trade, economic investment, and cultural-humanitarian cooperation.

Special focus was placed on the implementation of joint projects in energy, transport, industry, engineering, and agriculture. The increasing activity of Kazakh and Georgian businesses reflects the positive dynamics of our economic partnership. All this demonstrates the robust pace of our mutually beneficial cooperation and creates a solid foundation for taking our bilateral relations to a new level.

Today, we signed a joint statement, elevating our relationship into a strategic partnership. This is a truly historic moment, and it is largely thanks to your active leadership and personal commitment that our countries have reached this important milestone. Taking this opportunity, I would like to once again express my sincere gratitude for your visit, for your time, and for your genuine dedication to bringing our nations closer together.

Dear Mr Kobakhidze, in recognition of your exceptional leadership and significant contribution to strengthening cooperation between Kazakhstan and Georgia, I have decided to award you the First-Degree Order of Dostyk, which has a very symbolic name, meaning ‘friendship’. This distinction stands as a testament to the close ties and growing partnership between Kazakhstan and Georgia. May this high decoration serve as a sign of Kazakhstan’s deep respect for the people of Georgia and my personal esteem for you, Mr Prime Minister. Please accept my sincere congratulations.

And now, I propose proceeding with the award ceremony. Thank you very much,” the Kazakh President said.
