President of Uzbekistan arrives on state visit to Georgia

On July 2, 2026, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, accompanied by an official delegation, arrived in Georgia for a state visit, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia has announced.

According to the Ministry, the Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Maka Botchorishvili, received President Mirziyoyev at Shota Rustaveli Tbilisi International Airport.

“Within the framework of the visit, Shavkat Mirziyoyev is scheduled to hold meetings with the President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili, and Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze. Agreements and Memoranda of Understanding across various sectors will be signed during the visit.

Furthermore, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan will lay a wreath at the Memorial to the Heroes Who Fell for the Unity of Georgia and will attend the unveiling ceremony of a monument dedicated to the poet Alisher Navoi,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement read.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Friday signed a Strategic Partnership Agreement, formally elevating bilateral relations to the level of a strategic partnership.

Following the expanded-format talks between the two countries' Government delegations, the relevant agencies of Georgia and Uzbekistan also signed a series of memorandums of cooperation covering the fields of economy, healthcare, environmental protection and agriculture, finance, customs, education, information and communication technologies, and culture.
