President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić has arrived in Georgia on an official visit, accompanied by his spouse and a state delegation.

The Serbian president was welcomed at Shota Rustaveli Tbilisi International Airport by Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili.

According to Kvrivishvili, the visit carries special significance for strengthening trade and economic relations between the two countries. She also emphasized that the visit is historic, as it marks the first time a Serbian president has paid an official visit to Georgia.

“The Serbian president’s visit will be of utmost importance in terms of enhancing trade and economic ties between our countries, as it will include highly significant bilateral meetings, including talks between the leaders,” Kvrivishvili said.

“The importance of the visit is further underscored by the fact that Georgia and Serbia are currently engaged in important negotiations on a free trade agreement,” she added.

Kvrivishvili noted that the agreement would have major benefits for both countries by increasing trade turnover and boosting exports from Georgia.

“We believe this will be a landmark decision, as two states are expected to conclude a free trade agreement in such a short period of time. This will facilitate trade and economic cooperation and contribute to the further development of Georgia’s economy,” she said.
