Turkmen President calls for greater private sector role in Georgia-Turkmenistan infrastructure cooperation
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedow on Thursday said cooperation between Georgia and Turkmenistan should extend beyond the public sector, stressing that private companies should play a more active role in infrastructure development and expressing interest in applying Georgia's successful tourism experience in Turkmenistan.
In his speech at the Georgia-Turkmenistan Business Forum, Berdimuhamedow said the business community could play a key role in strengthening bilateral partnership, particularly in logistics, infrastructure, international supply chains and terminal development.
“I call on the business community to further strengthen and expand the close ties that already exist between our countries. Businesses can play a very important role in advancing our partnership, particularly in logistics and infrastructure, as well as in the development of international supply chains and terminals”, he noted.
“Our focus should not be limited to cooperation between state institutions. The private sector should also be actively involved in infrastructure development. Today, we are discussing the establishment of a Turkmen terminal in Georgia, on the Black Sea coast, to bring our countries even closer together and promote successful cooperation between the public and private sectors”, Berdimuhamedow continued.
He emphasised that the role of the business community was crucial, as it contributes to attracting foreign direct investment, benefiting both countries.
“The long-term strategic partnership between our governments is built on this foundation. I am confident that cooperation between businesses will also expand in the field of advanced technologies”, the President said.
Berdimuhamedow further added that partnerships between Turkmen and Georgian entrepreneurs would be beneficial for all sides.
“This will be reflected in projects, plans and initiatives that contribute to the development of construction, agriculture and other sectors in our countries. Turkmenistan is interested in learning from Georgia's development experience. We want to establish major tourism centres in our country based on Georgia's experience. You achieved outstanding results in this field in 2025, and we are striving to replicate that success”, Berdimuhamedow said.

“The ministerial summit in Washington is a vital initiative designed to unite partner nations in a coordinated front against transnational political terrorism,” Georgia’s Ambassador to the United States, Tamar Taliashvili, has stated.
Ambassador Taliashvili underscored that Georgia’s active participation in this international platform is of paramount importance.
“Georgia’s Vice Prime Minister, Maka Botchorishvili, is participating in this ministerial summit, which was initiated and hosted by the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio. The primary objective of this gathering is to unite partner countries in combating transnational political terrorism.
