The Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Davit Songhulashvili, accompanied by the State Representative in Shida Kartli, Simon Guledani, visited the fruit and vegetable processing and storage facility TMT LLC in the Kaspi Municipality to inspect the company’s development operations, the Ministry of Agriculture reported.

The minister toured the processing infrastructure, met with corporate representatives, and reviewed current capacity across fruit and vegetable production, cold storage, and processing.

“Strengthening the processing sector is of paramount importance for the sustainable development of Georgian agriculture,” stated Davit Songhulashvili.

“Our objective is to support local farmers so that Georgian enterprises adopt modern production technologies and focus relentlessly on delivering high-quality, competitive produce. Goods made in Georgia must become synonymous with quality and reliability, which will in turn drive the broader strength of our economy,” the minister added.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, TMT LLC has been a beneficiary of the Rural Development Agency since 2016. The enterprise’s expansion was supported through various state schemes, with total agency co-financing reaching GEL 574,310.

In 2016 and 2019, the company secured funding under the Preferential Agricultural Credit program for cannery renovation works. Subsequently, in 2022, it received GEL 488,038 in co-financing under the Processing and Storage Enterprises Co-financing Project to construct a modern fruit and vegetable storage facility. Today, TMT LLC processes and stores between 1,500 and 2,000 tonnes of produce annually, supplying both domestic and export markets.

The plant maintains a permanent workforce of 35 employees, with staffing increasing to nearly 50 workers during seasonal peak periods.

The ministerial delegation at TMT LLC also included Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Lasha Avaliani, Head of the National Food Agency Giorgi Iakobashvili, and members of the local municipal government.
