Georgian Water and Power completes Stage 3 of major network overhaul on Rustaveli Avenue
Georgian Water and Power (GWP) is nearing completion of the third phase of its water network overhaul as part of the comprehensive Rustaveli Avenue rehabilitation project, carrying out large-scale tie-in operations to connect the newly installed infrastructure.
According to the company, the project represents a total investment of 12.5 million GEL. The undertaking involves an entire renewal of the area’s water supply and wastewater infrastructure, replacing over five kilometres of ageing pipelines with modern networks.
Upon completion of this third stage, 3.6 kilometres of new water supply mains and 1.3 kilometres of sewer lines will be commissioned along Rustaveli Avenue. The upgrade also includes installation of nine fire hydrants, 71 regulating shut-off valves, and primary inspection chambers. Intensive tie-in operations to connect the new network are underway today, 9 September.
This major rehabilitation project is being executed in line with international standards set by GWP’s parent company, Aqualia, ensuring long-term resilience, sustainability, and efficiency. Once operational, the modernised infrastructure will significantly enhance the reliability of Tbilisi’s central water and wastewater management systems.

Georgia’s Pension Fund has published statistical data for August 31, 2026.
According to the Pension Fund, 1.769 million people are currently enrolled in the country’s funded pension scheme.
