GWP warns of rising water levels in Aragvi River

Starting June 18, an increase in water flow in the Aragvi River is expected due to heavy rainfall in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region and the resulting significant inflow of water into the Zhinvali Reservoir, according to a statement released by Georgian Water and Power (GWP).

The company said that, in addition to the naturally high precipitation, excess water discharged from the Zhinvali Reservoir will also enter the riverbed.

“During periods of high water levels, the operational conditions of the Zhinvali Reservoir are strictly regulated in accordance with the ‘Reservoir Operation Instructions’ to ensure the dam’s stability and compliance with safety standards.

We urge the public to exercise particular caution when traveling near the Aragvi River riverbed during this period,” the statement said.

The countdown is almost over.

The pavilions are ready. Technical checks have been completed across conference stages. Audio and visual systems are in place. Art installations are already appearing throughout the venue. International guests have begun arriving at Tbilisi airport, preparing to take the stage across the city and share their expertise with more than 10,000 attendees.

Global Tech Weekend Tbilisi, the movement dedicated to connecting and strengthening technology ecosystems across the region, returns from June 19 to 21. With just 24 hours remaining until the official opening, here's a look at what awaits visitors at GTWT 2026.

Three Days of Technology, Innovation, and Connection

Imagine spending a day learning directly from the people behind some of the world's most influential companies and projects, gaining insight into the routines and decisions that have shaped their careers.

Then, walking into another pavilion and meeting a startup founder searching for their first investment round. A few years from now, that same founder could be building the next major success story in Silicon Valley, perhaps with the support of an investor they met during Global Tech Weekend Tbilisi.

Or picture yourself in one of the festival's networking areas, exchanging ideas with the marketing executive of a luxury fashion house, discussing your ambitions, sharing contact details, and opening the door to future opportunities, all within a single conversation.

At GTWT, these moments are not exceptions. They are exactly why more than 10,000 participants come together each year. The event is built around a shared goal: exchanging knowledge, creating meaningful connections, and helping transform the local business landscape into one of the region's most attractive destinations for innovation and technology.

The three-day event series begins on June 19 and continues through June 21 across multiple venues throughout Tbilisi. Each day is designed around a distinct concept and experience.

Dozens of Events on Day One

The opening day will feature conferences, workshops, lectures, networking sessions, and private working meetings hosted across the city.

"Although Tbilisi offers several large event venues, we didn't want to concentrate all activities in a single location on June 19. We want our international guests to experience the city itself alongside GTWT, to explore Tbilisi and better understand the local context. We believe this makes the experience more memorable and meaningful. That's why we decided to activate spaces provided by our partners and host guests throughout the city. Hotels, coworking spaces, university campuses, and cultural institutions were ultimately selected as venues for the first day's program," says Nodo Ivanidze, Co-Founder of Global Tech Weekend Tbilisi.

The Flagship Event Takes Over Factory Tbilisi on June 20

This is the date everyone is talking about: June 20, the flagship day of Global Tech Weekend Tbilisi.

More than 150 international brands and their representatives, 200+ speakers, over 300 investors, emerging startups, cultural experiences, networking areas, and entertainment zones will come together under one roof at Factory Tbilisi.

The former Coca-Cola factory, now transformed into one of Tbilisi's leading cultural and creative hubs, will serve as the central venue.

The space will be divided into thematic pavilions featuring five dedicated stages:

• World-Building and Future Innovation Stage
• Technology Stage
• Global Stage
• Startup Stage
• Theatre Stage

In addition, visitors will have access to workshop zones and interactive activity spaces.

Across these stages, attendees will hear from speakers representing globally recognised brands, including Meta, Google, Dolce & Gabbana, and many others, alongside local entrepreneurs, industry leaders, startup founders, and innovation professionals.

The complete speaker lineup and event agenda are available on the official Global Tech Weekend Tbilisi website.

Cultural Experiences and Informal Gatherings on June 21

After two days filled with discussions, presentations, networking, and business activities, the festival's final day offers a different pace.

June 21 will focus on cultural experiences and informal interactions, allowing participants to continue conversations in a more relaxed setting. Throughout the day, attendees will have opportunities to meet, exchange ideas, and strengthen connections before gathering for the official closing cocktail party, celebrating another successful edition of Global Tech Weekend Tbilisi.
