Important East-West highway project signed today - Finance Minister
Georgia’s Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili said a project to construct the new Batumi-Sarpi road, one of the key sections of Georgia’s East-West Highway, was signed today.
According to Khutsishvili, more than $350 million in financing was secured from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for the project.
“Today, an agreement was signed to implement an important project that represents one of the key sections of the East-West Highway — practically its final section, the Batumi-Sarpi road. It is important both for its engineering solutions and the scale of the investment,” Khutsishvili said.
“Funding for this project was secured from the Asian Development Bank, with the total amount exceeding $350 million. In this regard, the Georgian government continues to actively cooperate with international financial institutions, both in financing road infrastructure and in supporting various municipal, water and regional projects,” he said.
Khutsishvili described the Asian Development Bank as one of the leading financial institutions operating in Georgia.
“The Asian Development Bank is one of the leading financial institutions in Georgia, supporting practically all priority areas of our country and the Georgian government,” he said.

Georgia’s Pension Fund has published statistical data for August 31, 2026.
