United Kingdom - The University of Essex has awarded an Honorary Degree to Natia Loladze, President of the Georgia Red Cross Society and Vice-President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).

By decision of the University, this prestigious academic distinction was conferred upon seven outstanding individuals during the 2026 Graduation Ceremonies. Honorary Doctorates are awarded to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to their respective fields and to society.

For Natia Loladze, the award recognises her outstanding humanitarian leadership and her unwavering commitment to promoting human dignity, solidarity, and social responsibility.

In her speech, Natia Loladze highlighted the important role the University of Essex played in shaping both her professional identity and personal development.

“This recognition is not only mine. It belongs to the thousands of volunteers and professionals who work every day to protect human dignity and support people in their most difficult moments,” said Natia Loladze.

During her address, she also placed particular emphasis on empowering young leaders, especially women. She noted that the University had given her not only knowledge, but also the confidence and motivation to act in the face of the world’s most complex humanitarian challenges.

On the international stage, Natia Loladze is a strong advocate for humanitarian principles, inclusive leadership, and women’s empowerment. As Vice-President of the IFRC, she contributes to the governance of the world’s largest humanitarian network and plays an active role in addressing global humanitarian challenges, further reinforcing her international leadership and influence.
