National Bank of Georgia and Central Bank of Armenia sign new cooperation memorandum
Natia Turnava, Governor of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG), met with Martin Galstyan, Governor of the Central Bank of Armenia, on the sidelines of the regional central bank governors’ roundtable hosted in Tbilisi.
The bilateral meeting underscored the long-standing and close partnership between the central banks of Georgia and Armenia. Both sides emphasised the vital role of regular information and experience sharing in strengthening institutional capacity and mounting effective responses to shared financial challenges. The governors also reviewed current macroeconomic trends and the overall stability of the regional financial sector.
A highlight of the meeting was the signing of a new Memorandum of Cooperation, which significantly broadens the scope of bilateral regulatory partnership.
According to the NBG, under the memorandum, the two central banks will enhance technical exchange and operational coordination across key financial sub-sectors. The expanded framework encompasses the supervision and regulation of financial institutions, monetary policy implementation, payment system development, securities market oversight, regulatory frameworks for virtual asset service providers (VASPs), and financial technology (FinTech) innovation.

The capital of Georgia will celebrate the public holiday, Tbilisoba, on October 3 and 4 at 5 locations this year, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze announced at a municipal government meeting.
Besides Rike Park and Orbeliani Square, Gudiashvili Square, Leghvtakhevi, Europe Square, and Metekhi Bridge will host visitors.
“Visitors arriving at the venue will find a wide range of cultural, entertaining, educational, and spectacular activities. Festive decorations and installations, photo zones, relaxation areas, and an open-air cinema will be set up across the event grounds. Gastronomy and entrepreneur zones will be arranged where Georgian and foreign dishes will be showcased with masterclasses, tasting of pastry, honey and wine,” Kaladze said.
The Awarding ceremony of Honorary Citizens will be held on October 4 at 8 p.m. with live broadcast.
“Throughout the day, children’s concerts, as well as entertainment and sports activities, will take place at all locations. The program for both days will conclude with musical evenings and theatrical performances.
