The Tbilisi Development Fund is launching the rehabilitation of the wedding palace on Baratashvili Street, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze announced during a capital government meeting.

According to the Mayor, structural assessments show that the building is classified as Category III structurally unsafe.

“According to structural studies, the load-bearing structures of the building, which were previously restored in the 1980s, are in an unsatisfactory condition. The facility has been assigned a Category III unsafe status. As a result, we have decided to partially dismantle the building and rebuild it in an identical form, in full compliance with international safety standards,” Kakha Kaladze said.

The Mayor noted that the project aims to preserve the city’s unique urban character.

“The building’s exterior will fully retain its historic appearance. The objective of the project is to raise safety standards in the historic part of the capital and preserve the city’s unique urban character. I am delighted that yet another listed building will be fully restored,” the Tbilisi Mayor added.

He also informed that the works are scheduled for completion within 14 months of the official mandate being issued.
