Work on Aragvi River Bridge completed, both lanes reopened to traffic - Roads Department
The bridge deck on the Aragvi River bridge (left side, heading towards Tbilisi), located at the 26th km of the Tbilisi–Senaki–Leselidze international highway, was damaged on June 20, according to the Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia. Repairs to the damaged deck were completed ahead of schedule, and traffic has now fully resumed across both lanes.
Due to high traffic volumes, a full rehabilitation of the existing Aragvi River bridge is not feasible, meaning that essential restoration works are carried out periodically instead. However, construction of a new bridge parallel to the current one is progressing rapidly and is scheduled to open later this year.
The new infrastructure will significantly improve road safety and traffic capacity.
