A total of 2,731 economic entities engaged in hotel services operated in Georgia in 2025, owning 2,783 hotels and hotel-type establishments, according to data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat). The figure was 4.5% higher than in 2024.
According to Geostat, the largest shares of hotels and hotel-type establishments were located in the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, at 21.3%, and Tbilisi, at 20.9%.
The most common legal form among entities engaged in hotel services was that of an individual entrepreneur, accounting for 65.5% of all operating hotels and hotel-type establishments in 2025.
Some 99.8% of hotels and hotel-type establishments were privately owned, while 0.2% were state-owned.
The total floor area of operating hotels and hotel-type establishments reached 3,964.6 thousand square meters in 2025, up 9.8% year-on-year. The residential area of guest rooms stood at 1,761.0 thousand square meters, an 8.9% increase compared with the previous year.
The total number of beds in Georgia’s operating hotels and hotel-type establishments reached 120,200 in 2025, up 6.0% from 2024. The number of rooms increased by 6.1% year-on-year to 54,300.
Georgia’s hotels and hotel-type establishments served 6.2 million guests in 2025, 6.5% more than the previous year. Foreign visitors accounted for 62.7% of all guests. The largest group of foreign visitors, 555,400 people, were citizens of Israel, representing a 1.0% increase from 2024. Citizens of EU countries accounted for 10.4% of all foreign guests.
In 2025, the majority of foreign visitors to Georgian hotels and hotel-type establishments — 92.0% — traveled to the country for holidays and recreation.
Among foreign guests staying in Georgian hotels and hotel-type establishments for recreation purposes, the largest shares were citizens of Israel and the Russian Federation, accounting for 14.7% and 12.9%, respectively.
A total of 29,101 people were employed in Georgia’s hotels and hotel-type establishments in 2025, with women accounting for the majority, at 54.5%.
