According to data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GeoStat), Georgian resident travellers recorded 740,900 outbound trips abroad in the second quarter of 2026, a 3.6 per cent increase compared to the same period last year. The largest proportion of trips (44.0 per cent) was undertaken by travellers aged between 31 and 50.

Of this total, outbound visits by Georgian residents stood at 571,900, representing a 1.4 per cent increase on the corresponding period in 2025.

GeoStat reports that Georgian resident visitors made 388,700 tourist-type visits abroad, marking a 0.8 per cent rise year-on-year. The majority of these visits (47.4 per cent) were made by residents aged 31 to 50, whilst female visitors accounted for 46.3 per cent of total visits.

Furthermore, the agency’s report shows that the largest single motivation for trips in Q2 2026, accounting for 34.9 per cent of visits, was visiting friends and relatives. The most popular destinations were Turkey and Armenia, recording 201,100 and 112,900 visits respectively.

In the second quarter of 2026, the average length of stay per visit was 6.36 nights, representing a 0.6 per cent decrease on the same period in 2025 (6.40 nights). Repeat visits accounted for 98.3 per cent of all trips.

According to GeoStat, total expenditure incurred during visits in Q2 2026 reached 685.6 million GEL, a 17.6 per cent increase compared to the same period last year. The average spend per visit rose by 16.1 per cent year-on-year to reach 1,198.7 GEL.
