Georgia to participate as partner country at Shanghai Tourism Exhibition
Final preparations are underway, just one day before the opening of one of Asia’s largest tourism exhibitions.
The Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Irakli Nadarishvili, the Deputy Minister of Culture, Giorgi Mortskhulave, and the Head of the National Tourism Administration, Maia Omiadze, visited Georgia’s stand to inspect the preparations.
At ITB China 2026, Georgia will participate as a partner country. This designation is expected to enhance the country’s profile and attract more tourists.
Photo and video materials showcasing Georgia have been displayed at two of Shanghai’s airports and on central public squares, across nearly 400 locations in total. A series of video spots about Georgia has been produced and will be broadcast through Chinese media and digital channels.
The Shanghai exhibition will open on May 26, featuring high-ranking guests who will tour Georgia’s stand. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore Georgian culture and its tourism potential, as well as sample traditional Georgian cuisine and wine.
Georgia’s national stand will occupy 400 square metres. A dedicated workspace will be provided for approximately 30 Georgian tourism companies to hold meetings with potential partners. The exhibition will feature presentations and working sessions highlighting Georgia’s tourism potential. During three days, visitors to the Georgian national stand will have the opportunity to explore Georgian culture, folklore, gastronomy, and wine.
At the Georgian pavilion, with support from the Ministry of Culture, visitors will have the opportunity to explore examples of Georgian folk crafts and learn about collections housed in Georgia’s museums and foundations. Additionally, as part of ITB China, masterclasses in traditional crafts and Georgian calligraphy will be conducted.
Throughout the exhibition, visitors will have the opportunity to experience Georgian traditional dance and song. This year’s cultural programme at the Shanghai exhibition will be performed by the ensemble Rustavi.
Chef Irakli Asatiani is making special preparations for ITB China and will introduce exhibition guests to Georgian dishes and conduct culinary masterclasses.
On the eve of the exhibition’s opening, on May 25, a special gala reception will be held in Georgia’s name, to be attended by nearly 700 high-ranking guests. Attendees will have the opportunity to taste Georgian cuisine, learn about the history of Georgian gastronomy and culture, and discover Georgia as a tourist destination.
